Many fans in Price County and the surrounding area of northern Wisconsin may remember making the trek to the legendary Antholz Gymnasium in Spooner during this time period to cheer on their high school basketball teams with a chance for a trip to the state tournament in Madison on the line. During that time Price County schools left an impressive legacy, qualifying for 17 appearances and winning 10 Spooner Sectional titles. After 34 years of teaching and coaching at Spooner, Carlo Kumpula retired in 2006. He combined his love of sports and sports history to become known as the “sectional historian.” This book contains team profiles, game stories, statistics, photos of championship teams and more, insuring that the memories of a very exciting and exhilarating time has been kept alive for those that lived it and for those that want to learn more about this special moment in time.
